La Gomera, Jan 1st, 2020

The National Center for Microbiology (CNM) has confirmed this Friday night the first positive in Spain for the Wuhan coronavirus, which has already left 259 dead and more than 11,000 affected worldwide. The Ministry of Health has reported that it is one of the five samples it had received from La Gomera. The patient is admitted and isolated in the Hospital Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe on the island.

The protocol was activated after an alert from the Ministry of Health to locate two tourists in La Gomera who had been in contact in Germany with a patient diagnosed with infection by the 2019-nCoV coronavirus. Once located, it spread to three other people with whom they were living on the island, according to the Canarian Government, which has added that the symptoms of all of them are mild.
